클라이언트는 두 아이를 둔 부부로 4인 구성원 개개인이 독립적인 공간도 확보하고 함께 다양한 활동을 할 수 있는 넓은 공용공간도 원했다. 주거내 공적 영역과 사적 영역을 명확히 구분하되, 두 영역 사이에 가벽과 복도 등 전이공간을 두어 심리적으로 안정감을 가지고 시선과 동선의 이동이 가능하도록 하였다. 먼저, 거실 - 주방 - 다이닝 - 창고 - 서재 - 드레스룸까지 벽을 터서 넓은 공간을 확보하고 창가쪽 거울을 활용하여 확 트이고 시원한 공용부를 만들었다. 불투명과 투명 사이를 가변적으로 활용할 수 있는 PDLC 스마트 유리를 활용한 홈오피스 또한 평소에는 내부로 시선을 투과하도록 하여 거실이 넓어 보이도록 하기 위한 장치이기도 하다.

전체적으로 미니멀한 공간을 추구하였다. 이 집에는 집주인만 알 수 있는 공간으로 들어가는 히든도어를 시작으로, 기둥 사이 숨겨진 세탁실, 가구 뒤 숨겨진 보조주방, 무몰딩, 무문선, 무손잡이, 무단차, 히든경첩, 히든타일 가구도어와 수건걸이 등 기능을 유지하면서 선과 면을 정리할 수 있는 모든 미니멀한 요소들이 다 들어가 있다. 가구에 숨겨진 빔프로젝터와 천장 매입형 스크린을 통해 평소에 숨겨져 있다가 나타나는 홈시네마 또한 심플해 보이지만 치밀한 전략에 의해 계획된 공간이다.

 The clients, a couple with two children, wanted a home where each of the four family members could have an independent space while also sharing a generous common area for various activities together. The design clearly distinguishes between public and private zones within the residence, yet introduces transitional spaces—such as partial walls and corridors—between the two to create psychological comfort and allow for fluid movement of both sight and circulation.

 Walls were opened between the living room, kitchen, dining area, storage, study, and dressing room to secure a wide, open space. Mirrors placed along the windows amplify a sense of openness and continuity. A home office with PDLC smart glass, which shifts between opaque and transparent, allows visual permeability when desired—visually extending the living area and creating a flexible boundary between work and life.

 The overall concept is minimalism. From the hidden door leading to a private area known only to the homeowners, to the concealed laundry between columns, a secondary kitchen tucked behind furniture, and details like no-molding, flush doors, handle-free cabinetry, level transitions, hidden hinges, and seamless tile-finished furniture doors and towel bars—every element is designed to simplify lines and surfaces while preserving functionality. Even the home cinema, revealed through a projector hidden within furniture and a ceiling-recessed screen, embodies a simplicity that conceals precise and deliberate planning.
