 클라이언트는 대학생인 두 아이를 둔 부부로 4인 구성원이 함께 공유할 수 있는 넓은 주방과 거실을 중심에 두고 부부와 아이들의 프라이빗한 공간이 명확하게 분리되기를 원했다. 

 먼저, 현관을 들어서자마자 애매하게 구획된 가족실 영역의 경계에 슬라이딩 벽체를 설치하여 경우에 따라 완전히 독립된 아이들의 공간으로 분리할 수 있도록 하였다. 이처럼 움직이는 벽체를 경계로 부모와 자녀 세대가 다른 디자인 컨셉의 톤과 마감재, 가구로 스타일링할 수 있는 집 속의 집 개념으로 풀어내었다. 

 기존의 집구조에서 설비와 기둥라인이 조금씩 어긋나 있어서 미로같은 느낌이 강했는데, 입구부터 주방-거실-안방으로 이어지는 공간에 빌트인 수납장을 활용하여 선과 면을 정리하여 모던하고 기능적인 공간으로 구성하였다. 또한 천장고를 2700까지 확보하여 시원하고 깊이감있는 복도를 만들고, 복도 끝의 시선이 외부로 향하도록 유도하였다. 그리고 집 속의 집인, 아이들의 공간은 미드센츄리 가구와 파스텔톤 모자이크타일, 아치와 곡선 손잡이, 식물과 소품들을 활용하여 아이들의 취향과 개성을 반영하였다. 가족이지만 각자의 프라이버시를 지키고 서로 다른 취향을 존중하며 만들어져 가족들의 만족감이 컸던 현장이다. 

 The clients, a couple with two university-aged children, sought a home where the four family members could share a spacious central kitchen and living area while maintaining clear separation between the parents’ and children’s private spaces. Upon entering, a sliding wall was introduced at the boundary of the ambiguously defined family room, allowing it to function either as a shared zone or as an independent area for the children when needed. This movable partition establishes a conceptual “house within a house,” enabling each generation to express distinct identities through different design tones, materials, and furniture compositions. In the original layout, misaligned structural columns and service lines created a sense of disarray. The redesign clarified spatial order by introducing a continuous built-in storage wall that extends from the entrance through the kitchen, living room, and master bedroom—organizing lines and planes into a modern, functional composition. The ceiling height was raised to 2.7 meters to enhance openness and depth, guiding the perspective toward the exterior at the end of the corridor. Within this structure, the children’s zone—the inner “house”—was styled with mid-century furniture, pastel mosaic tiles, arched details, curved handles, and indoor plants, reflecting their individuality and warmth. The project achieves harmony between shared family life and personal privacy, embodying a respectful coexistence of different tastes under one roof.
